Published

on

Tonto Dikeh has disclosed that she would not be returning to Nollywood after the governorship election in Rivers State.

Recall that the actress was announced as the deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State.

Speaking with BBC News Pidgin, Tonto said she will not return to acting even if her party loses the governorship election in Rivers State.

When asked if she has completely retired from acting, the mother of one said, “I don’t like movies like that again and it’s been a long time since I acted on screen, you know.

“I’ve acted in about two films in 10 years, I appreciate that my path started from Nollywood, it is something that I respect, but it’s not something that has been in my life.

“So even after the election, it’s not something I’ll return to, but I’ll love to contribute to the industry when I get into power,” Tonto said.

She went ahead to commend her colleagues, Funke Akindele and Banky W for their courage and participation in politics.

“It is not easy for Funke and Banky W at their level to put themselves out there to effect change because criticisms and so many things are involved.

“I believe in Funke, I believe in Banky. With them, I can hold onto something and say I believe that they have a vision for the people,” she said.

Popular Nigeria Philanthropist Celebrates Mother @86

By Emma Peter, Abuja

The popular Nigeria Philanthropist, Barr. Uju Ken-ohanenye, spotted celebrating mother’s birthday in a grand style as she clocked 86. According to her, the mother clocked 86 on Tuesday October 4, 2022.

Speaking with Journalists at the ongoing Abuja Trade Fair, organized by the Abuja Chambers of Commerce, ACC, said she was happy to witness another birthday of her lovely mother. Describing her as a wonderful mom.

“I am here because my mother is celebrating her birthday today. I want to get her something so that we can celebrate her.

“You know, my mother is a wonderful woman, she brought us up in the fear of God. As I speak with you, she is currently staying with me because I want her to be comfortable and happy. That also makes me happy,” she said.

Barr. Uju however described this year’s trade fair as “incredible and well organized”.

When asked about her motivation in carrying out her philanthropical activities? The Barrister said, she is doing it out of passion and natural love for the less privilege and vulnerable in the society.

“It’s a nature. Because as a young girl, when we were going to church our mother usually give us offering and instead of me to give mine in the church I rather drop it for the beggars.

“I don’t use to give my tithe to any church, I rather use it to touch lives. During my primary and secondary school, I use my pocket money for the less privilege and I am happy.

“God is using me to answer Peoples’ prayers and is the major reason why I volunteer myself to do what am doing,” she added.
